Golf World's 2024 ranking of Europe's Top 100 resorts features a significant jump from Sotogrande (Almenara Golf Courses) into the Top 10 (from 17 to 6) on the back of the addition of villa accommodation at La Reserva Club. The other interesting change near the top of the list, is the inclusion of Castiglion del Bosco, which features both a luxurious Rosewood hotel and a fine Tom Weiskopf members course which can be played by those staying in the hotel.
The Golf World ranking criteria involves awarding each resort marks out of 40 for their golf course offerings, and marks out of 20 for each of 1) accommodation, 2) setting and 3) non-golf amentities.
