Media Release:
The Professional Golfers Association of Australia (PGA) and Golf Australia (GA) are pleased to advise of the commencement of a new initiative to reduce duplication between the bodies and improve efficiencies around operations.
Following on from the success of the MyGolf Joint Venture (JV) between the bodies, GA and PGA are commencing a new JV that will include media services and tournament delivery.
The new JV will commence operating in the first quarter of 2018 and will help to ensure that there is a more seamless delivery of events and greater clarity around communication.
“GA and PGA have been working together for a number of years on MyGolf plus other collaborative programs such as Community Instructor, Inclusion and Golf and Club Support and that cooperation has yielded really good results and growth, so we see this as an extension of that process,” PGA Chair Peter O’Malley said.
“We know there’s duplication in some areas of our operations and we’re keen to keep addressing and improving on those things.
"Both organisations have a number of staff in these areas and this is about bringing them more closely together to get the best output, make golf more visible and have the best events possible.”
GA Chair John Hopkins echoed those sentiments and said the bodies had made a concerted effort to be as cohesive as possible for the benefit of the game.
“The role of both organisations is to make the game stronger and a united voice, approach and vision for the game is really important.
“A number of bodies in Australian golf over the past few years have made a concerted effort to work together to reduce fragmentation within the industry and we see this JV between PGA and GA being an important step in that process,” Hopkins said.
