Wild Horse is a wonderfully understated public golf course near Gothenburg Nebraska. The layout was designed and built by Dave Axland and Dan Proctor, who kept things simple here and didn't try to upstage their earlier work with Coore & Crenshaw at Sand Hills. Instead they preferred to focused on sensible, fun holes and fashioning subtle golf shapes across their gently leaning prairie ground.

This course doesn't have too many knock-out holes, but they all seem to work strategically and each is attractive to the eye and fun to play. For the price, Wild Horse is one of the best value and most enjoyable courses in America.
