Designed by Gil Hanse and his partner Jim Wagner, The Cradle Short Course opened in 2017 and is a 9-hole par three layout set immediately in front of the Pinehurst clubhouse and named in reference to the fact that the resort has long been referred to as 'the Cradle of American Golf'. Ranging from 56 to 127 yards, each hole features professionally sculpted putting surfaces and elaborate Sandbelt-style bunkering with plenty of short grass to ensure the holes are playable for all.

Hanse also rebuilt the popular Thistle Dhu putting green at the same time, offering guests of the resort the perfect place to practice their short game or simply enjoy some fun pitching and putting with friends. Green fees at the Cradle include repeat rounds, while Kids under 17 can play the course for free when accompanied by a paying adult.

The latest course at Pinehurst, The Cradle is a welcome addition to the resort and will hopefully prove popular with guests as well as helping to introduce many more newcomers into our great game.
