From the club website:
To design a course worthy of this remarkable site, Old Marsh Golf Club called on Mr. Pete Dye, whose design philosophy reflects both an appreciation for the great Scottish courses, and a respect for the beauty of the land. His creation at Old Marsh Golf Club is a course that will be cherished by the golfer who appreciates new challenges in the oldest of games.
During the development of Old Marsh Golf Club, Mr. Dye could often be found on the edge of a fairway studying the land, visualizing the hole – pursuing his remarkable “hands-on” style of golf course design. It was this unique appreciation and “feel” for the land that led Old Marsh Partners to ask Mr. Dye to design the courser – and it was the rare potential of the Old Marsh site that led Mr. Dye to accept.
Mr. Dye drew on his vast experience as a golf course designer, as well as his experience as an international amateur golfer (having played in the U.S. Open, U.S. Senior Amateur and the U.S. British Amateur Championship) to create a course that is both challenging for the finest golfer and enjoyable for the weekend player.
