Kohanaiki is an invitation-only private club community in Hawai’i, carefully crafted on 450 oceanfront acres of the Big Island of Hawai`i. Once the playground of Hawai`i’s greatest king, Kamehameha I, its shores are steeped in history, with sacred artifacts, cultural landmarks, and petroglyphs: a rustic mixture of rolling golf greens, sacred ponds, lava flows, palm trees, and a 1½ mile stretch of stunning Kona coastline.
The club features a Rees Jones-designed oceanfront golf course, a luxurious Beach Club, 67,000 sq ft Clubhouse and Spa, 1½ miles of beachfront, Adventure Team, and dining options ranging from casual poolside fare to exquisite five-star dining.
Kohanaiki is home to the only Rees Jones golf course in Hawai`i. The beauty of the course is truly stunning, and will stir even someone who avoids the sport to want to play. The scenery is both beautiful and, at times, wonderfully distracting as the 7,329-yard, par-72 course winds across more than 100 acres with six ocean-front holes set along 1½ miles of majestic shoreline. It’s challenging, yet infinitely fun.
Crafted around 14 historic Ahu (sacred rock shrines), the emerald-green SeaDwarf paspalum turf intertwines with flows of black volcanic rock, ancient structures and 200 protected anchialine ponds that were historically used by Hawaiians to raise fish and shrimp and are now home to native and migratory birds and wildlife. Our team has taken painstaking measures throughout the grounds to honor the history and natural beauty of the area.
