In Volume 3 of The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, Tom Doak published that:
“Reclaimed from a long-abandoned sand and gravel quarry, The Quarry at Giant’s Ridge is golf at a Paul Bunyan-esque scale. The course is full of modern design memes, like par-5’s with split fairways and big waste bunkers with sharp banks; there are also two or three holes where the approach narrows dramatically or requires a forced carry that punishes the short hitter. Hole for hole, I liked it, but they did feel like individual pieces arranged in a box, instead of a whole course that flows together: years of overgrowth block most of the views between holes, and the green to tee transitions are rarely easy. But holes like the short par-4 6th and 13th are worth getting in a cart for.”
The Quarry at Giants Ridge received a score of 6 out of 10 from Tom Doak.
