In Volume 3 of The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, Tom Doak published that:

“The expansion of the original Kohler course from 18 holes to 27 to 36 split the original holes between the two courses. The strong back nine back the 1^st and 11^th through 18^th holes of Meadow Valleys. The finishing stretch from the original back nine features some of the best holes on the property, notably the par-3 15^th; but the front nine are the blandest holes at Kohler.”

The Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run Resort received a score of 5 out of 10 from Tom Doak, and score of 5 and 6 out of 10 from two of his co-authors.
