In stark contrast to the dramatic Quarry Course at Black Diamond Ranch, the Ranch Course is rather mundane and the sort of standard resort golf fare one expects to find in the state of Florida. Perhaps as compensation for the lack of natural drama, Fazio made his waste areas enormous here and appears to have tried hard to create interest where it just doesn’t exist. A few of the gently rolling early holes are quite good, and the finish is very tough, but otherwise this is essentially a wall-to-wall Bermuda grass lawn interrupted by a series of sandy washes and clean lined bunkers.
Aside from members tired of the Quarry Course, it’s hard to imagine anyone choosing to play here.
