Tournament host of the annual Abu Dhabi event on the European Tour, this well established and well presented club near the heart of Abu Dhabi is best remembered for its quick greens, well presented fairways and iconic grand clubhouse, complete with gold eagle atop the roof
The golf course isn't poor by any stretch, but this is a flat site and the design is somewhat uninspired. Perfect for tournament play, the fairways are narrow and protected by rounded, shallow bunkering while the greens were built for speed and boast sharp internal breaks. The lack of drama around greens and through the site make it hard for the Abu Dhabi GC to stir the imagination of well travelled golfers and design connoisseurs, but the chance to play on a course that hosts Europe’s best golfers every year will certainly have some appeal.
While winter here is great, the weather in the Middle East does get very hot making Abu Dhabi Golf Club – great turf aside - a pretty difficult place to golf at certain times of the year.
