Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course is the first privately owned golf club in Thailand, founded by the late Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha, and originally designed by I. Izumi. The golf course opened in 1971, and had hosted the Thailand Open 4 times together with many Asian Golf Circuits prior to renovations in 2007.
The golf course and clubhouse underwent a complete renovation in 2006, and opened in March 2007. A sister golf course was also simultaneously built nearby with its own clubhouse, called Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation. Lee Schmidt of Schmidt & Curley Design Inc. took on the redesign the Old Course but kept the original routing of I. Izumi and many of the old characters. Bunkers were added for a modern aesthetic look, feel and landscape. Seashore Paspalum was chosen for fairway grass, and Novotek for greens. Despite a new look, the Old Course remains a classic traditional tree line with many fond memories of the past. Classic, beauty, and challenge are what the Old Course is known for today in Thailand.
