The Wanderers enjoyed a high profile for more than 20 years when it hosted the PGA Championship from 1972 to 1995. During the 1970s it was “the” tournament in South Africa. The heavily-treed and undulating course, adjoining the Wanderers cricket ground, has been modernised and continues to present an excellent championship test. The fourth must rate as the narrowest par 4 in the country.

The golf club is now independent of Wanderers Club.
