Water comes into play on 11 of the holes on this large golf estate on the eastern outskirts of Pretoria. Matkovich introduced several interesting design features at Silver Lakes, including an island fairway on the par-5 14th, and a double fairway on the eighth. The par-3 ninth and par-5 18th greens are excellent finishing holes to each nine, sharing an island of their own, ringed with palm trees, next to the clubhouse. The course has some strong par 4s.
