From the club website:
The city of Polokwane (Pietersburg) was established in the late 1800s along with its golf course. Since then a few changes have occured - not only do we now call our city Polokwane, but the golf course itself looks quite different from its original design, with the last of these changes made between 1989 and 1990.
The course sports generous fairways and lush bent grass greens, providing golfers every opportunity to play their best as well as allowing them to enjoy the scenery. A well stocked and expertly run Half-Way House provides sustenance throughout the day while the 19th Hole awaits golfers, at the end of a long day on the course, with some well-deserved refreshments.
The Polokwane Golf Club has a long history and part of that history is a long list of prestigeous events hosted over the years, including the Sunshine Tour during the 1990's to the recent Country Districts Tournament, the 2012 WGSA 72 Hole Stroke Play Tournament and the club's signature event:The Baobab Classic. The club is also fondly referred to the "Home of Retief Goosen" as this is the very course where he honed his prolific skills.
