Near downtown George and a popular stop for visitors to the Garden Route, the George Golf Club is an unpretentious country club noted for its surprisingly well-maintained 18-hole layout.
Design-wise things at George are fairly simple, with holes not overly bunkered or tricked up and most of the challenges apparent from the tee. Aside from excellent opening and closing holes, driving beyond a valley from the 7th tee and pretty back nine par threes are the other main highlights. Elsewhere there isn’t much to recommend here, except that this is the sort of modest, uncomplicated layout that golfers in South Africa really should support.
