The No 1 course at Country Club Johannesburg currently hosts the Telkom PGA Championship on the Sunshine Tour, and has proved a successful tournament venue. The layout has been improved and upgraded regularly by Golf Data over the years, and is one of those rare courses which is fun for the high handicap and also for the tour professional, with lots of birdie opportunities. The fourth is a classic par 3, while the 17th, curving around Swan Lake, one of the club’s vast storage dams, is an excellent risk-and-reward par 4.
