Golf Digest South Africa says -
Stately parkland layout at one of Gauteng’s top country clubs, it has the look of a US Open type venue, with a number of challenging par 4s guarded by trees. However, Bryanston has never sought tournaments, although it did host the SA Amateur in 1977. The greens were controversially modernised in the late ’90s and their severity in places does restrict the choice of pin positions. The course opens with two par 5s, and the front nine ends with a par 3. The 18th is a superb finishing hole.
