Designed by Perry Dye and one of the best known championship tracks in Singapore, the Masters Course at Laguna National is perhaps the most over-rated course in Asia. The layout is unimaginatively routed, uninteresting, straightforward and covered in horrendous artificial mounding.
There are obviously difficulties building courses in Asia, but this one displays no construction flair at all, nor are the holes arranged in any sort of strategic manner. The water holes take a nice picture, but they generally have sand between water and fairway to cushion players from the prospect of a wet ball and confuse the actual design intent of the hazard.
Generally presented in good condition, and probably quite tough in tournament mode, the Masters at Laguna National is a disappointing effort from Dye Designs.
