Longniddry is a decent quality links set mostly on high ground with views out to the sea but no proximity.
The course was originally desigend by Harry Colt on 150 acres, but over the years alterations by James Braid (in 1936), Mackenzie Ross (in 1945), Donald Steel and others have robbed the course of many of its Colt features while the actual playing areas have also shrunk over time with today's track reduced to a modest 106 acres in total. There is nothing startling here but a long opening stretch and some decent mid-length par fours do warrant special mention.
