The Pinhal Course was originally designed by Frank Pennink but overhauled in the mid-1980s by Robert Trent Jones II's company. Cut mostly through pine trees and houses, the second course at Vilamoura offers nicely maintained and pleasant to play golf holes, with some attractive features. There is one head-scratcher however, the crazy horseshoe par five at the 17th that would be almost drivable on a direct line if the internal areas weren't out of bounds.
