In Volume 1 of The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, Tom Doak published that.
“It is fair to wonder why a visitor to Ireland should waste any time on a non-links course, and with so many new destinations in the north-west, Killarney probably doesn’t deserve a detour unless you’re traveling with your wife. But it’s impossible to have played there and not mention its delirious setting at the shore of Lough Leane, with the mountains of Killarney National Park just beyond. The lakeside par-3 finishing hole of Mahony’s Point is deservedly the most famous hole on the property.”
The Mahony’s Point course at Killarney received a score of 5 out of 10 from Tom Doak, and a score of 6 out of 10 from one of his co-authors. The Killeen course received two scores of 4 out of 10.
