Galway Golf Club

Ireland, NW Ireland, near Sligo
4.3 (6)
Course Opened: 1925

In Volume 1 of The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, Tom Doak published that.

“With a large local membership, the club does not seek out overseas visitors, so it was off my radar entirely until Masa told me it was a MacKenzie course. It’s a parkland course running uphill from the waterfront, with a good selection of short holes and two very good par-5’s in the 7th and 12th holes. However, I believe they’re going backwards architecturally, with changes to the first four seaside holes in the name of safety and many of MacKenzie’s greens neutered by topdressing and shrinkage.“

Galway Golf Club received a score of 5 out of 10 from Tom Doak and a score of 6 out of 10 from one of his co-authors.
