The golf course was initially a nine-hole course par 35 and 2380 m long. It had the first water feature on an Icelandic golf course, i.e. A shop pond and on the same track the first bunker that was built. This bunker still exists on the current eighth fairway. In 1994, the course was expanded with new tracks around Daltjörn. The course is now 9 holes, par 36 and 2646 m long and difficulty level 69.2/125.
In 2003, the fairways of the course were named after the main bird species that honor the Suðunésíð with their presence. The first lane is called Æðukolla, the second Crane, the third Svanur, the fourth Loa, the fifth Stelkur, the sixth Gray Goose, the seventh Margæs, the eighth Stokkönd and the ninth Tjaldur.

Golf World Magazine says:
A revelation. Sits on a peninsula, so you are playing alongside the sea for most holes. It won’t win architectural awards, but is an absolutely unmissable experience.
