A multi-course resort scattered across a sprawling rural country estate in Lower Bavaria, the Hartl Resort at Bad Griesbach has more than 90 holes of golf and three full layouts designed by Germany's favourite golfing son Bernhard Langer. The Brunwies Course was his first at Bad Griesbach, and is still the best known. It occupies a decent parcel of land, but is unfortunately hurt by some simple design and architecture with the natural hills and valleys incorporated from time to time and a number of attractive green sites spaced through the round, but too many dull moments for really great golf.
The team that Langer assembled to create this course are clearly not artists nor particularly passionate about natural golf as they appear to have spent more time and care working on the surrounding mounds than building interesting driving hazards or strategic playing zones. The Brunwies isn't a poor course, but unfortunately its mostly bland to look at and rather bland to play as well. Some plunging shots with rural panoramas are nice, but you wouldn't travel far for an experience like this.
