An impeccably maintained modern resort course 20-miles northwest of London, The Grove achieved celebrity in 2006 by hosting a WGC event (won by Tiger Woods) shortly after opening. This is really pleasant golf, with the course laid out across a 300-acre country estate and noted for its quick, gently pitched greens, its grass-faced bunkers, fescue roughs and attractive rolling topography. Doesn’t quite have the charm of England’s heathland gems, but there are plenty of good holes here and enough strategic interest to keep discerning golfers entertained.
