An old traditional parkland companion to the more exposed, links-like Victoria Golf Club, Royal Colwood on Vancouver Island was also designed by Vernon Macan and is noted for some quite aggressively angled green complexes. Like a lot of Golden Age golf courses, the key to scoring well here is to keep your ball below the hole and avoid having too many putts down or across the sharp putting contours.
Although the par threes are very good and the overall atmosphere and ambience is very pleasant, the course is a rung below Victoria, chiefly because the site lacks dramatic movement and the holes are continually lined by tall trees.
