Designed by Phil Scott, the father of champion professional Adam Scott, the Peregian Springs Golf Club is surrounded by a greater residential community and located inland of the main highway running along Queensland’s popular Sunshine Coast.
This golf course is compromised in several ways; firstly the site was a little cramped and, in places, is quite unappealing for quality golf. There also appears to have been a minimal landscaping budget, which hurts the course as off fairway areas and teeing grounds lack definition and a sense of naturalness.
The holes themselves are only moderately interesting; there is a nice rising par three at the 8th and another reasonably good short hole at the 14th with some strong bunkering. A few green sites, like the 2nd and 13th, are also decent. The rest of the course lacks proper design quality, the holes aren’t particularly well built nor are they designed to entice or encourage strategic, thoughtful play.
Members who golf here regularly probably enjoy the predictability of this layout, but, in truth, Peregian Springs is a rather ordinary course and one hopes that Phil Scott and his team learn and improve on their next effort.
