In 1930 a group of young golfers left Launceston Golf Club and formed a club on railway flats near Hoblers Bridge. This course opened Sept 27 and the prediction was that it would provide a training ground to feed senior clubs. They named the club Riverside. Following an offer of 50 acres from Mr SB Freeland at Riverside, the club divided into two seperate groups.
May 21 Mowbray Golf Club opened. The associates formed a group July 24 that year.
1955 Mowbray began planning to add a further nine holes, and the 18 holes were all in use by late 1964.
