The Chirnside Park Country Club was built in the 1960’s by developers of the original Chirnside Park Estate “Wilmore and Randall”. Once the majority of the land was sold, Wilmore and Randall approached the local residents with a proposal to purchase the land known as Chirnside Park Country Club to form a Club. The club's original Board of Directors acted as guarantors for the initial loan to purchase the property.
The Club has been in operation since 1974 and until a relocation in 2014 sat on 146 acres of land with attractive views of the Yarra Valley. As houses engulfed the golf course, the club decided to sell it's golf land and move to the new site nearby and build what has become the Gardiner's Run golf course.
Gardiner's Run opened in 2014 and was designed by Phil Ryan of Pacific Coast Design. The holes occupy heavy ground and are generally straight away and built with mounding and plantings to provide separation. The modern resort-style bunkering and clover shaped greens provide a sufficient challenge to the majority who golf here, and there are a handful of holes with water hazards to keep golfers attention.
Though a notch down from the new Eastern golf course down the road, Gardiner's Run provides a pleasant, value-for-money golf experience for eastern suburb players.
