Designed by Peter Thomson, Ross Perrett and associate Justin Trott, the Black Bull golf course at the Silverwoods Resort on the Murray River first opened as a 9-hole course in 2010, extending to the full 18 hole in 2015.
A short drive from the heart of Yarrawonga, the course enjoys views of Lake Mulwala and features undulating Couch fairways and slick Bent grass greens. The Murray River region has some of the most suitable year-round conditions for golf and turf management in the country, and Black Bull’s Grand Prix Couch fairways, in particular, are among the best in the area.
Black Bull has proven popular with visitors since opening, and largely because of its fun and diverse mix of golf holes, and its challenging green sites and bunkering. From the tee fairways get progressively narrower and harder to hit from around the 200 metre to 220 metre mark, with shorter hitters generally left with obscured approach shots into elevated greens.
Our favourite areas include the par threes, the holes within what's known as the Bull Ring and the closing holes around more established residential areas.
As with Yarrawonga, Cobram, Tocumwal and Murray Downs the golf offering at Black Bull is particularly attractive for those seeing a laid-back, sunny golf break away from Australia's metropolitan areas.
