Nephew of Tom Fazio and son of Jim Fazio, Tommy Fazio II is an aspiring architect who is best known for his work on the second course at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster.
In mid 2020 it was announced that CEO of the USGA, Mike Davis, would be stepping down from his role at the end of 2021 and leaving the governing organization to join Tommy Fazio II as part of a new golf course design business. That business will be known as Fazio & Davis Golf Design, and likely lean on connections Davis has made in the golf business, as well as the marketability of the Fazio (II) name, to win business. Fazio II's course at Trump National in Bedminster is very close to the USGA headquarters and might be where the two men formed their plan.
It will be interesting to follow this new business, and see whether super long, difficult USGA spec championship designs are the norm or perhaps something more user friendly.
