Famous Scottish Tour player and Ryder Cup stalwart, Sam Torrance first turned his hand to design at the St Andrews Bay Resort a few miles from the heart of the Old Grey Town. The Torrance Course is not a great layout by any stretch, but Torrance deserves to be judged and marked on more than just a first up resort course in such a traditional golf market. He was clearly hamstrung by issues with the developer and the site itself, and quite possibly entrusted the actual design and routing work to an associate. Hopefully future projects are more promising.
