Long-time architectural editor for Golf Digest magazine, Ron Whitten has plenty of experience reviewing golf courses and has recently displayed an interest in having a more hands-on role in their creation. He was involved in the Erin Hills development with Dana Fry and Dr Michael Hurdzan.

It's unclear whether Whitten is looking to get more heavily involved in design but the results at Erin Hills were reasonably good and his contribution, though small, is said to have been significant.
