The father of Masters Champion Adam Scott, Phil Scott is a professional golfer himself who seems to have turned to golf course design in the hope of working with his son on plum signature design jobs in the Australasia/Pacific region. Scott has already designed Peregian Springs in Queensland and, pending planning approval and financing, may be involved in other developments in that state as well as elsewhere in Australia.
Peregian Springs is an unremarkable course, that suffers from the lack of a decent landscaping budget as well as a pretty uninspired site and design.
Scott Golf Designs is Phil Scott's company and Adam Scott is apparently available for signature projects if the client has deep enough pockets, and wants to use the younger Scott's smiling face to help sell villas and land plots. It appears that Adam Scott does not have an exclusive arrangement with his father, meaning he may also be able to act as a signature designer on projects designed by golf course architects.
Scott's win at Augusta National in 2013 is sure to lead to increased interest in Scott Golf Design, particularly in Asia. It will be interesting to chart the company’s progress in the years ahead.
