A former Ryder Cup Captain, Irishman Paul McGinley is known in design circles for his redesign work on the North Course at Quinta Do Lago in Portugal. As one might expect of a course designed by a 'celebrity' professional golfer, the North Course at Quinta do Lago features small greens with even smaller internal target areas, and difficult recovery shots for those who are slightly off with their approach or who near-side their missed shots. The more sparsely bunkered holes are reasonably well done, and the course is generally in fine condition.
