Dick Nugent was an American golf architect who worked closely with Bandon Dunes owner Mike Keiser to create the Dunes Club, a superb 9-hole course that resembles Pine Valley for the manner in which the golf holes move across the sandy, pine-strewn slopes of Keiser’s Michigan property.
Nugent built many other courses, but The Dunes Club perhaps best represented his capabilities – and also what a sensitive and passionate client can achieve when working together with an appropriate course designer.
Sadly Nugent, a former Past President of the ASGCA, passed away in early 2018.
