Champion Amateur golfer, Alex Russell was an associate of Dr Alister MacKenzie and spent time with the legendary designer during his brief 1926 visit to Australia. He subsequently designed a number of golf courses, in much the same style and philosophy as the good doctor.
His best known work remains the East Course at Royal Melbourne, but other credits include Yarra Yarra, Lake Karrinyup, Riversdale in Australia and Paraparaumu Beach in New Zealand.
