Macquarie Links International Golf Club

Australia, NSW, Sydney
5.7 (28)
Designer: Robin Nelson
Course Opened: 2002

The Macquarie Links International Golf Club was built in 2002, as part of a 150-hectare residential development to the south-west of Sydney. Set within some gently rolling Australian bushland, but conceived as a tribute to the links of Great Britain, the course was designed by Robin Nelson and has appeared in the last few Top 100 ranking lists compiled by Australian Golf Digest magazine.

What appeals to judges on the Digest panel are the superior turf conditions at Macquarie Links, the attractive native gum trees and mix of manmade creeks and lakes with links features like sod-faced pot bunkers and undulating greens. For purists the sight of pot bunkers on lake-side holes might sit uncomfortably, but this is a popular course with the average golfer and has done well to establish itself in the traditionally difficult south-west Sydney market.
