Pretoria Country Club

South Africa, Gauteng, Pretoria
Course Opened: 1910

Golf Digest South Africa says -

An undulating and attractive old parkland course at this prestige country club in the Waterkloof suburb of Pretoria, it was given a modern makeover in the last decade through the addition of controversial deep bunkering throughout the 18 holes. It has added to the penal nature of an already challenging layout. The downhill 12th is one of the longest par 5s in the country. The club hosted the Vodacom Championship on the Sunshine Tour until 2010.

The Pretoria Country Club's golf course was redesigned and built by the Gary Player Group during the latter part of 2004.

The official opening took place on 22 January 2005 with Mr Gary Player teeing the first official ball. The new design is unique due to the fact that all the bunkers on the course are pot bunkers with geotextile facings creating a stern test in bunker play.

Furthermore, all existing water hazards were redesigned as well as creating new water hazards which all have a natural feel.
