Golf Digest South Africa says -

Blessed with one of the great golfing sites in the Cape, alongside the Atlantic Ocean, close to Table Mountain, Milnerton could have today been one of the world’s great golf links had the golf club and the citizens of Cape Town realised its full potential. However, much of the original out-and-back layout was lost in the mid-1990s to a housing development. Much improved in recent years with subtle course changes. Still has some delightful links-type holes, and is one of the best spots for golf when the south-easter is taking a breather. The ocean is encroaching on the clubhouse, which may eventually have to be moved.

The following comments were taken from the club web site.

Milnerton Golf Club (MGC) has evolved from a six-hole course at its inception in 1913 into the 18-hole championship course that it is today. The “9 out, 9 in” course is bordered by the Atlantic ocean on the west and a lagoon on the east, and provides a golfing experience unique to South Africa: Built on sea sand, we believe we are the only true links course in Africa. In 1995, MGC underwent a major facelift as a result of the development of the Milnerton Links housing estate on part of the course. Some of the original holes were retained, while others were completely rebuilt.
