Designer: Peter Matkovich
Course Opened: 2000

Despite hosting the Eishenhower Trophy in 2006, the De Zalze golf course by Peter Matkovich isn’t very good and is hurt by a combination of a flawed design and poor construction. Again Matkovich employs shallow sand scrapes as his chief hazard, these bunkers embarrassingly insufficient at times.

There are examples of problem holes everywhere, such as at the par five 6th which heads toward and then around a lake and features a series of sand scrapes together with about 20 yards of additional rough between the water and the fairway. Not only do the bunkers spoil the strategy they are little more than a couple of inches deep and fail to test anyone with a decent game.

Even by South African standards De Zalze is a poor course.
