Durban Country Club

Royal Durban Golf Club

South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, Durban
Designer: Bob Grimsdell
Course Opened: 1935

Golf Digest South Africa says -

Built inside the Greyville racing track, close to Durban city centre, golf has been played on this site – originally a vlei – since the late 19th century. It became a Royal club in 1932. The course has hosted several SA Opens (the last in 1985) and SA Amateurs (2008), and remains a good championship test. It has an especially good routing of holes, which can be changed to suit the situation.

Out-of-bounds into the race track is a concern for golfers, while the course is renowned for its indigenous grass greens.

Has a stately colonial clubhouse.
