Canada’s SCORE Golf Magazine has released its list of the Top 100 golf courses in the country for 2012, and yet again The National Golf Club of Canada tops the ranking. The next six are old school gems, crafted by Stanley Thompson and, in the case of Hamilton (no. 3), Harry Colt. It’s another Colt’s classic, the Toronto Golf Club at 18, that stands out as one of the more peculiar rankings. Highlands Links down at number 6 is also hard to explain, while there surely aren’t 79 courses in Canada better than The Summit or 87 better than Cataraqui. Also odd were the lofty places handed to Beacon Hall, Royal Montreal and The Links at Crowbush Cove.
Otherwise this seems a decent list, and it’s nice to see the charming Victoria Golf Club climb into the Top 25.
