Golf Digest's 2009 Top 100 rankings were the first since the introduction of their revised conditioning criteria, a change that supposedly shifted the emphasis from lush and green surfaces to those that play firm and fast. Remarkably, given this change to conditioning, Augusta National was listed at No. 1 for the first time ever, dropping the seemingly unmovable Pine Valley down to number 2. This was just one of the curious results in 2009, a year that saw Rich Harvest Links astound good judges by remaining on the list, and in fact moving even higher to number 46.
